Great White's Evinrude E-Tec Generation 2 Re-Rig!

Postby Nelly » Wed Nov 26, 2014 1:24 pm

I have to confess that I love rigging boats! :geek:
Combine that with the fact that the new Evinrude Generation 2 outboards boast an astounding 20% increase in fuel efficiency while using less oil and my love for rigging blossoms into blood lust! drool

Preparation for the 2015 Seattle Boat Show began in earnest for me this week as the gang at Bayside Marine is going to turn this:

Into THIS! All the rigging; shift, throttle, fuel, steering, electrical and NEMA 2000 cables fit neatly into a single rigging tube as seen on this demonstration boat.

The 2014 Evinrude ICON's are removed and we back her into Bayside Marine's installation bay

Thanks to the overhead crane and four bolts, we're secure to the transom

Jeff LaLone of Bayside Marine and their Evinrude Ace Dave Petersen are all smiles with the very first E-Tec Gen 2 in the State of Washington successfully hanging on a transom!

As fast as the starboard engine is installed, the port engine takes it's place as well!

Up close, you can see the revolutionary difference in these engines. Custom colored side panels take the place of bulky, engine hoods and the top of the engines are easily accessed by a light-weight top panel

Next up will be the interior rigging and installation of the new touch screen LCD engine displays followed by the water test and performance evaluation! Stay tuned!!! cheers

Those G2s look sweet! thumbup

Not sure if your old engines were already rigged into the electronics, but will these be integrated into your Simrad system (NMEA 2000)? These on-board management systems integrated into our electronics are really optimizing engine and boat performance.

The bigger question…will you be ready for Resurrection?

Hey Troy,
Oh yeah, the NEMA 2000 outputs will function as well as drive an LCD engine management display panel.
The Resurrection Derby will be tough on me this year!
I love that event but the long Thanksgiving weekend may take it's toll on that one...

Is your boat going to be at the boat show?
I'd actually go if your boat was on show. Maybe I'd even hide a herring on board as a gift.....

So what is the difference between the Evinrude E-Tec and the E-Tec G2's?

Evinrude sent their Performance Evaluation team out and here's what shook out...
Let's just say that my fuel bill just got slashed!!!

You looking at your boat now with the new motors, I fell now you need to redo all your sponsor names tags so every thing flows. Or some graphics on the side. cheers
