Westport Report From Salt Patrol!

Postby House » Tue Jul 15, 2014 4:48 pm

Team Salt Patrol fished Westport this past Saturday, lots of kings and coho around. Offshore reports also have steady action on tuna too.

We trolled the beach just north of the bar in 45-50 feet of water and limited on kings and coho trolling divers with a Yakima bait Fish Flash with a 5ft Seaguar fluorocarbon 25lb leader to Mustad hooks pulling whole herring.

We were limited by 9AM so we ran north and fished bottom fish and limited on lingcod and black sea bass. Locating the schools a sea bass with the Lowrance Structure Scan was very easy and made staying on the school a fish a breeze.

With the forecast headed back to the Columbia at near record levels, we don't expect the action at Westport to "level" off anytime soon... cheers

Hey B,
Sounds like the crab gear is not an issue on the beach especially when you consider that it's a diver and bait show.
It's a whole lot easier to dodge gear when your not using downriggers! thumbup
