Dallas and Hein Banks

Postby Odie » Wed May 21, 2014 6:50 am

With all the new regulations going into effect for Area 9 and Area 10 Chinook retention, we are looking into other areas to fish. We have never really fished the Straits and looking for some assistance on how to fish these spots. We mainly troll, but have mooched in the past.

Thank you for your help.

Hey Odie,
Here's a link to WDFW's on line Marine Fisheries Regulations:
http://wdfw.wa.gov/publications/01590/2014-15_marine.pdf

Scroll down to page 108 and check out the Marine Area 5 & 6 map.
Unfortunately, the Dallas bank area you mentioned will not be open in July.

The closest opportunity we have in early July is Marine Area 7, the San Juan Islands.

You could pop out to Sekiu for the chinook opener and enjoy a two chinook limit!

Hang in there...I really believe that we're going to have a great chinook season despite the one fish limit in our inside waters thumbup

Nelly -

Thank you, I missed the selective fishery for that area. There are many arguments on Hein Bank being in Area 6 or 7. What do you think?
