Columbia River fishing!!!

Postby Nick Berto » Wed Jun 12, 2013 5:37 am

Ron Holt of Clancy's Guided Sportfishing has been absolutely crushing all sorts of fish on the Columbia River so far this summer. Those of you who don't know Clancy and his son Ron, they are legends on the Cowlitz and Columbia River. Really class acts with more than 5 decades of knowledge. They have this fishery dialed in!

I have been seeing Ron's Facebook posts the past few weeks and just drool'ing at all the fish he has been catching, lots of them and very consistant!

Ron uses nothing but the best equipment available including Daiwa reels (Ballistic, Saltist and Accudepth LC) . I have had the pleasure of fishing with him multiple times and am really looking forward to my next trip with him in a few weeks! cheers

Just yesterday! Limits of steel with a mix of a few salmon...

Great fishing! I went last Saturday and the sturgeon was on fire! took the kids because I knew it could be the last time to keep them for the next five to seven years. They were biting on everything (Smelt, Squid, Sand Shrimp, Coon Shrimp, Worms) We fished just upriver from the Longview bridge, 40-50ft water. We got around 17 shakers and landed 4 keepers (39,40, 43, and 48). We also observed one boat with 6ft+ over size. Sounds like this year was a great year for Sturgeon, don't know why they think the numbers are going down.
