With the shorter seasons of shrimp it is hard to justify the expense of a higher priced puller such as the EZ Pull puller of Buck Seteras. I have his puller and it is heads and tails one of the best. If we get our expanded fisheries in the San Juans of 36 days and 136 days in the straits, it would make it easier to swallow the cost of a better puller.
Having an extended season in those areas would be great to go in the summer month too. If the commission awards our 200 person per day shrimp in the ocean, I might be upgrading my puller to a bigger one of Bucks to shrimp the ocean.
One conversation that I had with Buck about the gas versus electric, was that every year someone loses fingers with the gas one. Also I would not want to have gasoline loose on the boat for it. But I would assume one tankful of gas would work all day. Also saltwater splashing on a gas puller motor would not be good for it long term. But the gas pullers are way faster than the electrics.
