Rob - really nice and engaging blog about PEI! I didn't fish there, but was up there as a kid and was totally enchanted by that area including the Bay of Fundy - if I recall, the highest tides in the world.

It really is a special honor for your captain to share the one Blue Fin catch of the year. Really a great aspect to this story.

Can't wait for the next installment.

Thanks Eric! Sure was an awesome trip and getting to harvest that big tuna was indeed a privilege.

Walter, Scott's dad, said the biggest tuna he's landed was 1347 pounds  The guys been fishing for tuna and lobster for 51 years. Saying he's a wealth of knowledge would be an understatement. It's rubbed off on Scott too...both of them were awful salty. Pretty cool stuff!

Can't wait to visit that part of the world again.

Sounds like a once in a lifetime trip Rob. Thanks for sharing the details buddy. Did you try any standup gear on those bad boys?

I definitely didn't feel the need to fight a monster tuna on a standup rod. We saw quite a few guys using stand up on other boats though and they all seemed to have fun with it. I left the rod in the gimble to land my two and some of the guys used the chair to fight'em. I have no desire to punish myself with standup gear on a fish of this size beatdeadhorse
