The Rain is Here; Where Ya Heading

Postby Medium D » Fri Oct 12, 2012 6:35 pm

This little drizzle on Friday is just the beginning. Saturday and Sunday should produce some measurable amounts of precipitation. So, where is everyone running off to? That secret, not so secret spot on the Hump, or perhaps all the way out to the coast. This rain will finally be a blessing and a curse. The rise in water will bring in a ton of fish, but also a ton of fishermen. Fishermen who have been waiting for conditions to improve, so as not to waste the gas money. Fortunately, depending on what they are targeting we can spread out a bit.
Chehalis is open for Kings and Coho, Limit: 1 king H/W and 2 coho which may be W. Or, a total of 3 Coho 2 W/1 H.
Hump, same as the Chehalis;
Satsop: CoHo retention only; 3 fish, 1 H, 2 W or any combination not exceeding 2 W.
Wynoochee; CoHo only; 2 fish 1 H, 1W... good luck finding a Hatchery CoHo in the Nooch.
Plenty of options plus the upper Chehalis. I know where I'll be. Any and all of the previously mentioned opportunity’s, depending on conditions and pressure.
So, you guys tell me where you are going, so I know where I am going...
And Go...

Sitting at the cabin on the Nooch. Today was a classic, ton O' rain, big winds and a true start to our Fall salmon season. We needed the rain and we got it.... The fishing is always tough on the rise. Hump was out.. Hedged the bet, waited until daylight and had a nice drive, over to the Hump to confirm chocolate. Then plan B- drove back over to the Satsop to salvage the day... Rain, wind.. Holy Crap, did I mention the rain. Rising water and scratched out two. Looking forward to this next week, epic times to come on the Grays Harbor system...

Went for the Snohomish yesterday. Was a wasteland around the town of Snohomish when it comes to fish. Just need some more time (and water) and they will be there.
