I use the scottys and got no problems with them.

@Eddy C.. ive ran into scottys releasin on me a few times. Over time I noticed it got kinda oily inside my clip from smelly jelly, scent, or just grease off my fingers runnin over the line... One time one of my buddies drank to much and startin mowin down on dorritos next thing I know he cant keep his line in the clip and his fingers are orange. Every now and then I clean them with lemon joy and havent had a problem since.

I'll try the lemon joy. I keep a bottle on the boat.

I have been a BIG fan of the "Blacks" brand releases for years and for the last 2 weeks I have given Silver Hordes "Sams Pro" releases a hard trial.

I guide 7-12 trips a week and use these releases hard, constantly resetting lines and I have to say I LOVE these releases! Like anything else, new gear takes some time to get used to it, but I am sold. They are adjustable for tension and work great with braid or mono. I get zero false releases with proper asdjustment and these releases allow very light biting and timid lake trout to trip them, and when they dont, a sharp snap of the rod tip lets them loose. You dont have to yank the rods hard to finally get the line out, and chance losing the fish.

Give them an honest try and I think you will like them. Their Sams terminators are also awesome, simple, strong and reuseable!

Thanks Silver Horde for making sensible, quality gear!

I've been using the red's the past 2 seasons . And have caught more fish than ever with them.
My fishing partner is using a black because he's older and does'nt have strong enough grip to use the red's .
A red broke last year on me when a shark got into the mayly and grabed my king. I just about cried .
Bought a couple more and just love em.
