Postby Brandon » Wed Jun 13, 2012 8:23 pm

Won a Avet at a PSA meeting tonight. Always just rolled with levelwinds.....Sooo for any Avet users out there.... Anybody use them for salmon? If so what do you spool it with? Is it too small for Halibut?

Thanks in Advance....

That's a great halibut and tuna reel and I would spool it with 65 pound Berkley Big Game Braid.
If you want to use it downrigging for chinook, add a 50' top shot of 25lb test and you're good to go Bro!

just bought that reel the other day, but in a lefty version. had it spooled with 50# Jerry Brown solid core with a 25 yard, 25# Berkley Big Game mono topshot. planning on using it for down rigging for salmon, live bait for tuna, springers in the columbia, lings next year and maybe halibut too. the drag system is outstanding, think you'll really like it, plus the price was right.
