I am ready for it to 'heat up' in more ways than one. We have caught kokanee on several different lakes using several different techniques. Trolling (Flatlinng or with down riggers), jigging and still fishing. They all have there time and place.

Everyone I talk to in regards to kokanee, is definitely ready for it to get going. To be honest, I really want to get out on the water and get after it. This Saturday we will do an overview of what the next 13 to 15 weeks will cover in regards to "The NW Kokanee Zone". We have some really, I mean really great stuff lined up. We have connected with some of the more well-known experts in the realm of kokanee. This is going to be very good, very in-depth and very spread-out. Washington, Oregon and Idaho will be on-deck to showcase the top 15 kokanee destinations. This will be a solid segment every week, until we are done. You won't want to miss it.

Tune in and listen for the up and coming contest and give-aways as well... :D

I am new on this forum, but been around a long time on the other local ones. I heard part of the show this morning with the guy who was talking about jigging Kokanee. He was touting $3 or $4 jigs. We use 2 1/2" or 3" of 1/4 hollow core pencil lead, a small treble hook with a bead above the hook and the pencil lead threaded on the line above the bead and the Kokes HAMMER it. It costs about twenty cents a jig and you rarely loose one.
We are out on American a lot. I have a 22' camo sled, but this year we will be in a 2007 24' Wellcraft. Sometimes we troll, but since we started jigging, we do much better and it is really fun. Summit lake west of Olympia is another great place for Kokaneee. I'll post pictures when we start fishing. Water is still a little too cold for a good bite.

American 4/6/12
Pounded the water for about 4-5 hours today with the Kokanee Dominator and Duane Inglin. Zero fish in the boat and only had 4 sniffs. Threw all kinds or gear in the water. And 15 minutes after we leave I get a pic of a 15" koke from a friend of ours bangheadwall

Fished Merwin hard today and all I can say is the wind was too much! But we drove 2.5 hours to fish so we did. Threw all types of gear and had 5 hookups with 0 kokes landed and 1 salmon smolt released. At least that is what it looked like to me. Tough fishing continues at American lake. I was in contact with several of my fellow koke head friends and they also had 0 fish. The weather is warming up this next week, I'm hoping things will heat up SOON.
