first time since early December that the stars aligned and weather and schedules allowed me to drag the boat out for a few hours of solo blackmouth fishing out of Everett. South side Hat Island.....I never have any luck here but thought i'd give it a good pounding. Everything looked promising, lots of bait, lots of fish around that bait (second photo), but no one wanted to bite the coho killers and kingfisher spoons I drug past them just off the bottom. what a difference a slack tide makes. photo 1 is going back over the exact waypoint in photo 2, about 30 minutes later. where'd all the bait, and fish, go????? just an occasional small bait ball showing up from slack tide on. gave it multiple drags through the area, then ran up to the racetrack for a quick couple of passes. finally picked up one medium sized shaker right before I headed out. didn't quite exactly get the skunk off the new rod & reel, but at least something eventually bit it.
