I fished a jig under a bobber at Reiter yesterday and went 1 for 2 with this nice 7# hen. Great times! Merry Christmas everybody! G :D

Thanks guys... As far as the crowds go, lets just say that I was not alone. I got there around 7:45 am and the lot was already full so I just parked up the road a bit. The cabin side had less people and they were catching the same numbers of fish. cheers

I have looked at the area via google earth but it lacks detail. Will all things be clear as I arrive? Do I go to the Highway 2 side or the Reiter Road side. I should do a recon, but it's a bit of a poke. Would anyone be kind enough to clue in this amateur?

Hey BD,
If it's your first time at Reiter then I would suggest you hit the hatchery side.
It's easier to find, easier to walk to...and unfortunately more crowded but at least you'll be able to find and scout the entire area.

I've fished the Hwy 2 side and it's a bit of a hike and you'll need to wade to a rock.
Bring your hand held Lowrance Out&Back GPS and punch a waypoint from the hatchery side and if you decide on a Highway assault next time, you'll have much more than an idea of where you're headed!
Good luck!

I was there the next morning (29th) & it was un-fishable. At least in my opinion which isn't much since I too am an amateur. The lot was NOT full. That should have been my first clue. The best part is that everyone else who was there and standing around dumbfounded were newbies too:). At least I wasn't alone and used the outing to scout out more bank access down stream along Ben Howard rd. I subsequently learned how to check the river flows on the USGS site and it doesn't look like the river will be back in shape before the new year:(
