MA/8-2 Coho

Postby MR.G » Tue Sep 06, 2011 3:30 pm

I had to go to Portland for a wedding this weekend but was able to scratch out some fishing on Labor Day. My buddy Jared and I pulled Gold Star hootchies around 45' down on the wire in Posession Sound between the Mukilteo ramp and Shipwreck. We got both coho on our first pass between 6:30 and 7:00 am. There were many other nets out all morning long and we are still finding big schools of pinks around. Remember the Muk ram is closed next weekend for a festival. Don't be like me and forget... wasting good fishing time. Good luck! G

Moosestock-
Looks like the Muk ramp is closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I just checked the City of Mukilteo's web site to confirm. This ramp sucks but is nice for folks like myself who have a smaller boat, which can't go the distance. It sure would be nice to have at least one more put-in option between Shilshole and Everett, (not the Edmonds lift). Anyways... good luck gettin' after them salmon my friend! G

Thanks for the info.....was thinking of taking the day off and fishing Friday and I also usually use the Muk launch. I'm glad I didn't head down there early Friday for a surprise. Looks like Everett if I go at all. How far of a run is it to get back to Muk from Everett? I really appreciate the info.....those were really nice slivers you had. Hope its as good as it was two years ago in the area. Thanks......Les

Good morning Moose!

First off, any "festival" that closes a boat ramp is pretty clueless...

The Port of Everett ramp is the largest in the state, Harbor Marine opens at 0400 with everything from coffee to crank shafts, and the run to Mukilteo is a breeze.

Once you leave the Jetty its about four miles as the crow flies and its flat calm in the morning.

Usually in the afternoons a northerly kicks up a little chop but its never too bad this time of year.

Good luck and you might just become a Port of Everett fan after you try their great facilities!

Great job on the coho, looks like everyone is finding them at diffrent depths. Don't forget the no wake zone if you are new to the Everett launch. It is usually monitored closely on derby days. Also there has been lots of safety inspections at the Everett launch this year.

Hey Nelly......Did I take it right that you can launch at the Everett boat ramp anytime after 4am? I looked at the Port of Everett web site and it said something like the launch didn't open until 6am. That didn't seem right as I was sure people were coming from that direction much earlier then that when I lauched at the Muk ramp a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the info and lets hope this is an epic Coho year..................Moose/Les

Hey Moosie,

Brother, I'm pretty sure they haven't closed that gate since last winter.

Heck, Harbor Marine opens at 0230hrs. Yes, that's ZERO TWO-THIRTY HOURS

I'm here to tell you that anytime you want to launch, all 12 lanes of the Port of Everett Launch will be open and ready to serve you. 8-)
