Uhhh.... crabbing was good, not so much for us where salmon were concerned though. We did have one on right when we started fishing but lost it. Lot's of boats and it turned out to be a decent afternoon.

You had your hands full teaching folks how to run a downrigger...

Todd Busby Cut Plug wrote:Great job Nelly. Once again, you get er done regardless of the conditions. How many inhces do you like to run the spoon behind your flasher? How about for an ace hi? Your #1 11 year old fan was thrilled to see the big fish last night. So was his dad.

Hey Todd, 40 inches measured knot to knot. Those Silver Horde spoons are the bomb but I have go to talk to Kelly Morrison about the finish... those darn chinook keep chewing the paint off!

Jeff_e_d wrote:I saw your red boat out there at what looked to be the tin shed. Did you see the gray whale? That was the coolest thing that I have seen as it totally cleared the water. We got one as well just over 20.

Didn't see the whale but that is one nice fish you got there!
Checks at the Everett ramp yesterday tallied 56 chinook, 22 coho and a pink for 256 boats.

We hooked four more today, lost two and released two wild fish in the high teens...We even had to fight a seal for one of those wild chinook... that was one tuckered-out king!...but that's another story

Been a couple long days for me. Fished way way to long yesterday to and finally scratched out 2 fish up at mid channel. Picked up and moved down south today. Started around kingston...nothin. Played around at Pilot....nothin. Moved to the south end of Possesion Bar at that noonish tide and my bro wacked this guy and cut loose 2 nates. Hot spots and kingfishers on the deck. I think ill just start at the bar tomorrow. Why does it have to rain in the middle of July? I feel like im blackmouth fishing. Nelly if you jam out tomorrow let me know if you get into anything.

29 lber took first prize in the Aaron Waag Salmon Derby, quit a few over 20lbs. Was suprized at the numbers of fish and the size at weigh in, 90% were caught at Point no Point and Kingston.
Aaron's mother caught her first salmon yesterday, can't help believe Aaron guided that fish to her hook. Keep up the good work Aaron!

On Saturday around 4 pm we saw a pilot whale on the west edge of the bar. The pilot whale has a tiny dorsal fin and a huge body. Anybody else see it?

I was in a green C-Dory and the whale was 30 to 50 yards behind my boat when it totally cleared the water and splashed down. That was awesome!

Believe me....I had some guys on board that had a hard time believing that we were going to release a halibut... but release it we did!

Here's one from today we didn't release! My son Matthew with his career largest hatchery fish which pulled the springs right down to the 30 pound mark!

I saw the splash and thought a boat ate $hit...kept looking for the wreckage and then saw the whale. It was the first time seeing a whale out there. I've seen plenty of porpoises and seals, but never any whales. I got a little video of it swimming away and then finally diving. Pretty neat stuff.

By the way, we kept 1 king about 20lbs, a 7-8 lb coho, and released 2 others on on Saturday. Sunday, we released a 10-12lb king and a 3-4 lb coho. And lost another nice fish that we never saw. My buddy was out there both days...had 5 hookups on Saturday, but could seem to get them to the boat. Sunday had 3 hookups and all had too many fins. One fish was pushing 30lbs.

Great fish Matthew and Nelly! We got a king and a pink but if you combined the weight of both, they still wouldn't rival that fish of yours.
