I wont be able to rate this season until it is over (Wild Steel are a comin').

I tend not to travel outside of the Puget Sound rivers for hatchery fish. This winter has been an improvement over the last few years hatchery fish. As usual the fish rocketed to the terminal areas and made for great fishing in those locations. The lower reaches did produce more fish due to the cold snap we had around Christmas.

For me, its time to grease the bearings on the trailer and start telling the wife that I will be headin' to Forks soon.

Its been an interesting year for sure. With the exception of a few good days in late november and early early december the skagit has been a grinder. Got pretty excited when we had 2 wild fish, definitely not mis-clips, before December 1st.

Biggest thing I've noticed is how small the fish are up there this year. Seems like most are 2-5lb mini's with the occasional 3 salt. Alot of the fish we've got too have net marks which probably explains why the few fish that got thru were so small.

Looks like the weekly Forks pilgrimages will start this weekend too. I'll make sure to low hole Danny and Tone. Might have to drag Mario out there too

On the Snohomish River system we saw more three salt hatchery steelhead than I may have ever seen before. Saw some truly nice fish. Look at the three rivers marine derby winning fish. I personally saw two fish that would have contended with the winner and several others that were bonified "teeners".

Maybe all the Skagit biggies wanted to head further south before entering a river.
