Sitka, AK

Postby Nelly » Fri Jun 10, 2011 10:02 pm

With day two in the books it's shaping up to be another great season in Sitka!

The weather is cooperating as well with flat calm seas and partly cloudy skies!

Here's Larry Stauffer with his half of a double header!

Friday was marked by a huge halibut breaking 100lb braid but the orcas finning by our boat on the way home made us feel better.... almost...

We're just getting cranked up here in Southeast Alaska so hopefully we'll get a few more fish pics ;)

I will be checking in live on-air tomorrow morning if Tobeck picks up the phone...

Hey Cos, I've been coming up here every year since '93.
Brandon, we barge the boat up here but you could do the Alaska State Ferry route as well!

If you're considering it I would start planning for next May since the summer ferry rates are in effect until June first.

A better plan might be to hook up with Kingfisher Charters or Reel Class Adventures in Sitka and get the lay of the land up here before you take the plunge.

We caught four species of salmon yesterday along with yelloweye, halibut and lingcod. Sitka definitely has a way of getting into your blood!

One of our best halibut days ever yesterday with a 61 and a 109 pounder filling the fishbox. We are heading out right now for our last day and I will post some pics and a new blog very soon. :
Oh, and yes Robbo, we are going to Mooch before deploying the Cannons! :D :D

Looks like good fishing there Skipper! I put these fancy schmancy Cannons on the boat and have to use them on a charter. Ripping too many lips mooching right now...thank you!!! Seeing a few silvers pushing in and Slim caught the first pink of the season today. 39,999,999 more pinks to go

Mason and Madden are in Sitka right now before we head to Fl for some fishing, rough life those boys have. Anyway Mason said they saw Nelly out on the water and he sent me a pic of a nice one he caught.
