Leader Holders

Postby Eddy C » Sun May 08, 2011 10:02 am

I have the pipe insulation and I'm trying to figure out how to make a roller. Like a paper towel roller for my boat.
I know Robbo uses them. I saw one on the boat nascarrich was on. It looks like a store bought.
Probably every one has one except me, but it is already on my permanet record that I ain't too smart.
So help me out here Please :?: :?:

Hey Eddy,
Leader holders can be store bought such as these,

You can also make these as simply as a piece of threaded rod with wingnuts held up by two pieces of angle aluminum.

The old paper towel holder works but mounting a wooden dowel somewhere in the boat will result in a more durable and versatile unit.

Good luck!

Your not alone Eddy...it's on my record too :) :)

Here's a photo of the leader roller in my driftboat. I had a friend who worked in a machine shop make this one and he also made the ones that I use on the charter boat. Very similar, only a little longer to accomodate more mooching leaders on one roll. Pretty easy to fab something similar to this in the garage with either aluminum or UHMW. Cotter pins hold the aluminum rod in place.
