Countdown to Costa Rica

Postby Robbo » Tue Mar 15, 2011 5:39 pm

From the W.F.O. fishing reports this past week in Los Seunos to the crappy weather we've had here in the northwest...I'm ready to peel outa here right now!

The schwag has been piling up for the trip and we've got a ton of stuff to give away down there. I stopped by http://www.Redington.com on Bainbridge Island today to pick up some of these...
Their new REX Technical Tees

Dress Shirts (at least for me)

A couple of great gear bags for the raffle

...and somehow a new set of Sonic Pro zipper front waders walked out of there. Won't be needing these in Costa Rica :)

Then off to see Peter at http://www.ProTackle.com in Poulsbo...the ultimate shop for bluewater popping and jigging. Peter set us up with a $700 popper rod, a bunch of tackle packs, and two fighting belts. Hucking poppers in the bluewater is an all time favorite of mine and well...I had to pick up a few lures for ma'sef before I left. Peter holds up a $37 dollar roosterfish lure and says..."They've been killing them on these." He could tell by the look in my eyes that I have a problem :D
Here's Peter showing off a super-duper tuna lure made from Mother of Pearl that retails for $140 schmackers 8-)

I was salivating over his popper stash 8-)

Peter is developing a new carbon fiber rod case...super lightweight and tough as nails :!:

This other little company in Poulsbo that you may have heard of called Grundens. They make just a few million pieces of rain gear every year...maybe more ;) They kicked in a bunch of their Eat Fish shirts for the all the folks on the trip. Great people at Grundens! These shirts have built in fish attracting mojo. Bucket can attest to their effectiveness :)

The gang at Outdoor Emporium in Seattle tossed in three awesome reels...Penn's new Fathom offshore reel and two Abu line counters, as well as a bunch of leader for everyone on the trip.
Check out the lines on the side of the spool. The more line that's off the spool the tighter the drag gets. On smoking fast bluewater fish it's necessary to back the drag off as the marlin or sail get further out and these lines make that move much easier.

Gringo Grande just couldn't pass up this Sebile...perhaps the best inshore bluewater lure ever made :!:

Dangit...I'm out of breath. There's so much more. We've got KILLER gear from Lowrance electronics, Mustad hooks, Costa sunglasses, and Silver Horde lures.

I'm with you Robbo, I can't wait for some blue water and warm weather!! I just happen to have some schwag piling up at my place as well. Lowrance joined the party as the title sponsor shortly after we announced the trip last year. One lucky winner will walk away with a new HDS-8, Structure Scan, and Broadband Radar. Mustad has jumped in with some hooks of course, hats, pliers, and a few other items. Griffin Maclean Insurance has some key floats, visors, and ACE measuring tapes.

Here's just a small taste of the stuff I've got. Nelly what are you bringing?

I'm all jacked up to fish off the beach in the evenings. Since I'm flying solo for a few days...that's where you'll find me in the evening :)
