Is this crazy thinking or what

Postby salmonhunter1 » Fri Feb 27, 2015 6:23 pm

Well I have this feeling ( weather ) that this year king silver and pink are not going to be that great to the warmer water ( like last year ). So Im thinking of doing something crazy. Crusing from Oly to up into Canada and doing all my fishing up there for about a month then crusing home, plus checking out the water ways of that other county who keeps stealing our fish. Ya I know a lot of people do that ever year in bigger boats, but I'm going to do it in a Bayliner 2252 hardtop. I feel it would be a great trip. Any thoughts

Fishing in Canada is always a good idea!
Trying to guess what the upcoming season will bring and assuming that the ocean temps will cause the same migratory anomaly as last year? Different story.
It's hard to explain why the weather has been so mild but keep in mind that the eastern half of our nation has been getting lashed all winter long.
The point is that it's hard to look at our regional weather and make coastal assumptions.
We could have a great season here and if you take a hard look at SST's (Sea Surface Temps) and the Climate Prediction Center's current forecasts you'll see a rapidly weakening El Niño and a cooling trend in the North Pacific.
I hope it gets -and stays- cool out there so we get some hot fishing right here! cheers

Yes but my June bug say the water temp is going to be warm again tuna are going to be in close and salmon are going to stay out in the ocean getting fat and lazy. I believe if my numbers are correct this is a 5 year King year.

I'm betting it's going to be a good year also. It's a 5 year king year but if the water is warm those hogs are going to sit out in the cooler water and get fat. But I do know my boat is almost ready and I will take my share.
