Rob - really nice and engaging blog about PEI! I didn't fish there, but was up there as a kid and was totally enchanted by that area including the Bay of Fundy - if I recall, the highest tides in the world.
It really is a special honor for your captain to share the one Blue Fin catch of the year. Really a great aspect to this story.

Walter, Scott's dad, said the biggest tuna he's landed was 1347 pounds The guys been fishing for tuna and lobster for 51 years. Saying he's a wealth of knowledge would be an understatement. It's rubbed off on Scott too...both of them were awful salty. Pretty cool stuff!
I definitely didn't feel the need to fight a monster tuna on a standup rod. We saw quite a few guys using stand up on other boats though and they all seemed to have fun with it. I left the rod in the gimble to land my two and some of the guys used the chair to fight'em. I have no desire to punish myself with standup gear on a fish of this size
