Hello, I fishing the local lakes and rivers around Whatcom county. When I was a kid, I fished the saltwater around Whatcom county with my Dad and brothers. I enjoy listening to your radio show on Saturday mornings. Thanks for having a great radio show that talks about local fishing.

I post on a couple of boards and follow several. I usually fish out to Ilwaco. River and salt.
I am retired and my focus is habitat restoration throughout the northwest. What started out just looking for information is growing into something I find fascinating. Like everyone else, I always knew we were trying to restore habitat and return salmon and steelhead to places where they were extirpated. I had no idea just how expensive and extensive these efforts were.

Habitat restoration is a billion dollar a year industry in the northwest. And very few people really have a handle on it. I am attempting to learn it, and share it and get more people involved.

I am frustrated and angry about the recent lawsuits. The very last thing we want to do is eliminate and divide stakeholders. The money being spent is not enough, and what is being spent could easily dry up.

You're absolutely right on the lawsuit.
That was one of the most arrogant, misguided and useless actions that I could imagine.

I agree wholeheartedly. We get a lot less steelheading opportunity from this and you won't see a drastic increase in wild steelhead numbers from this...if any at all. I rarely even fish for hatchery steelhead, but I understand how important they are to the overall business of steelheading and for the recruitment of steelheaders. I'm afraid that the huge decrease in opportunity will result in less interest and less people wanting to fish for, or give a rip about steelhead. It'll be good for the golf industry though

My name is Josh and you may have heard me last Saturday on the show talking about Daiwa gear and also Kodiak Lodge where I spend some time during the summers.

I grew up fishing and duck hunting the lower Columbia River, then later made it my livelihood for close to a decade. Most free weekends you can find me somewhere in that area. Now I work as one of the Daiwa reps in the NW.

If there are any questions about Daiwa gear, Kodiak Alaska, or the lower Columbia don't hesitate to ask, I enjoy helping people get dialed in and talk fishing.

I remember my dad and his fishing partner of 50+years plus others who were the best fisherman I ever saw.
They neither one would keep any hatchery steelhead back then.That was the general practice of good fisherman and not everyone,

Hello Everyone,

Just found the board and thought I would join.

I grew up fishing on Lake Huron and have only been in the PNW for almost 5 years after spending 12 in England. I bought a 185 Weldcraft Maverick DV about 3 years ago and have it slipped in our local marina at the north end of Kitsap Peninsula. I enjoy fishing MA-9 with occasional trips further afield.

I'm a GS and work for the Navy, married with a teenage daughter. Wife and daughter love crabbing but aren't much into salmon fishing.

I look forward to participating. TTYL.

Here's a bit of porn from my last trip to NB. I'm a rugaroo so the fish looks small...it was 39" and prolly close or just over 30 lbs.

I have to admit that I've never heard the term "rugaroo"!
So, after Googling it, I came up with "werewolf" but I think it means "big dude"!

I'm just glad you're on our side!
