Anchor

Postby Duck » Tue Mar 18, 2014 8:15 pm

Tom, I have the same length Duck coming.. I read your anchor install blog and am planning to do almost identically what you did.
How much does your anchor weigh?
Have you used your anchor much yet?
Are you happy with the weight?
If given a mulligan, would you change anything at all?

Thanks

Hey Duck,
The Rocna 6 is a 6kg anchor so it comes in right at 13.2lbs.
I run a boat-length of 3/8" proof coil chain and we were holding just fine in a pretty good current in over 130 feet of water.
So far so good and I wouldn't change a thing so no Mulligan needed!

I am going to add a winch and the configuration will be a bit unique so stay tuned!

Say.... That factory looks very familiar! rofl clap

How much scope were you using to stay in place? That is one sweet looking hook, and one fine boat.

Probably only 40-60 feet of line in addition to depth.
When you're anchor fishing deep water, you really don't want anything approaching a 2:1 scope ratio.
The boat swings too much to fish accurately and often you're limited to carrying only 400 feet of anchor line.
