Sekiu Derby

Postby Stonefish » Tue Oct 15, 2013 3:20 pm

Anyone have the results from this weekends derby?
I'd like to know how many fish were checked and what the winning fish was.
I'm hoping to get a bit few more coho out of the sound before things wind down. I'm hoping more are on the way.
Thanks,
SF

Ask and ye shall receive!

From our friend John Keizer of SaltPatrol.com:

Team Salt Patrol fished the Sekiu Salmon Derby this past weekend. Derby was small about 130 anglers fished it but they all had a good time.

It was a real fun time, with lots of coho 6-9 pounds.

The best action was found just east of Sekiu in 500-600ft of water. We caught most of our fish on a Shasta Tackle Swing Blade with a Wiggle Hoochie in Flame Orange. The best bite was early AM and it slowed after about 10:30. Best fishing was 45-90ft on the downriggers.

John Keizer of SaltPatrol.com was the guest host at the awards ceremony.

Salt Patrol also took 3rd place in the chinook division.

Sekiu stays open until the end of the month if you want a last shot at coho.

Thanks to John Keizer of SaltPatrol.com for the report! cheers
