Finally! It happened!

Postby Brandon » Sat Mar 16, 2013 10:49 pm

Ive fished a crap load of derbys. Came close a handfull of times but never sealed the deal. Well I finally got a win for my boat under my belt. Fished the Everett Blackmouth derby with good results. Tore one off lastnight for my 30th birthday so i was a little foggy gettin outa the gate this morning. I seem to fish best when im hungover. Launched in kingston and headed north hittin some of my usual haunts. It wasnt till I hit ole trusty Mid Channel we started makin fish bleed. Boxed the boat up and jammed to the weigh in. The ride from Port Townsend to Everett was a exciting one in a small craft advisory with pounding rain and no wind shield wiper. When I got back to the dock I reconized Derrick Floyds fishin buddy thats always fishin with him givin us the thumbs up. Im thinkin to myself oh great... this guys gonna beat me out and win another tourney. Ended up takin 1st and 7th beatin his big fish out by 3 ounces. Killer day! That was my first time to Bayside Marine. What a cool place. Guy was real nice behind the counter and showed me around. Wish I had a place like that over on this side of the water. Heres a couple crappy cell phone pics from the day.

For any of you that know about the convergence zone it is one of the coolest things to watch when its forming....just not when your motoring through it...

Congrats on the win! That must have been a long rough ride yesterday in the wind out of the south. Never thought of running that far in the sound especially in the weather like yesterday. Those are some nice mid channel fish
