To make a short story long, he was estimating the "barndoor" to hit the 400lb mark...

Thanks man. Been busy and havent listened to you guys in awhile. Had a co-worker take is own life and ive been off the map for a bit. But thats a crazy story. Woulda loved to have seen that fish.

After the boys tugged and yarded and strained their backs for two hours on that fish I grabbed the rod, cranked the drag down as tight as I could possibly get it and reefed as hard as I could on that fish. I couldn't budge the darn thing and it was still taking line. I handed the rod back to Stam and started putting the harpoon and all the necessary bludgeoning tools away

The fish was hooked on a heavy duty Lamiglas halibut pole vaulting stick, a Penn 340 GT reel loaded with 100 Berkley braid, 200 pound shock leader, and a pipe jig with a 12/0 Mustad treble hook. I've landed a lot of huge fish in the ocean and I determined that this one would remain a fish tale. We might still be there fighting it

Here's a few pics from the last couple days of fishing. We've been lucky enough to run into a decent king bite just about every day using the downriggers to cover a LOT of water. Here's Stam, Bucket, Canyon Man, and Parker with yesterdays limit of kings

Check out this football white king that Stam caught yesterday. The thing looked like a little yellowfin tuna

The eagles are pretty tame around here, especially when they think there's a free handout
