What do you do to your Anchovies? I find them to be really soft.

So let me get this straight. Duane is back east sharing his bait curing secrets and leaves us here in the North West hangin?
Is this really the way he treats us? I'm hurt .
Is it because if he shares the herring and anchovie cures I will catch more fish than him?

How long will those baits last if you don't freeze them?
When you put them on your boat do you put em on ice? or your bait cooler? or plastic bags?
I brine my bait, I might have a dozen or more left over, if I'm not fishing the next day I have to dump em. With these can you bring em back and put em in the fridge or freezer?
I'm sure a lot of fisherpeople will appreciate this one.

Ed, after these baits are brined, they will last for a few days in the fridge. I like to take mine out of the brine after about 20 hrs. and put them in my bait containers. I will place a thin layer of rock salt on the bottom and lay them in the container. When I do double sided baits, I like to keep bates separated based on color. I don't want unwanted color to bleed over onto something that I took the time to create. So, place like colors together and so-on.
When I fish brine or cured baits, I keep them in my containers, on ice in a cooler. It never makes any sense to me to warm my baits up to 60 or 70 degrees on a warm spring or summer day, only to put them into the water which can be 50 to 53. The warmest my baits ever get is when I introduce them into the water.
When freezing, something else to think about; I keep a couple of the styrofoam trays around that I get the herring on. When I am done fishing and I have a dozen or two left over, I simply line them up on the trays, freeze for a couple days, then vacuum pack. These will preserve well and fish well the next time out.
Just some thoughts to help you take advantage of your efforts to create great baits that fish well.
