Upper Snohomish Question

I am normally a saltwater boat guy and now trying bank fishing, which I have little experience.

My question for Nelly and Rob is:

Near the mouth of the Snohomish very close to Langus Park is were I plan to do a lot of my fishing from the bank, I don't have a boat. When the silvers first enter the river do they have a specific behaviour such as fast, slow, aggressive, or anything you can describe?

I like plunking and floating. If I were to use these rigs that close to the mouth could you help me with some general tips, such as a good bait, or lure if that is what you think would be hitting.

Hey Ryan,

First let's define the "upper Snohomish" and for the sake of this discussion, let's call everything above the town of Snohomish as the upper river.

For coho, plunking is not my first choice as these active fish like a moving presentation.

I would fish fire-tiger Wiggle Warts or skirted spinners from the bank.

Be prepared to see more fish jump than you will hook! It can be frustrating at times but keep switching your gear up and change your presentations (twitch a few black/purple or "Nightmare" 3/8oz jigs) and you'll be shaking hands with a few Snoho coho!

Think of a hoochie or squid or tube bait over the hook and that's a spinner with a skirt

I have been trying all of these techniques and getting nothing! The Coho are jumping and rolling everywhere but not hitting.
I have heard that folks are catching coho using roe which I have never done.
The guy next to me caught a 17 lb King on Roe(released it of course).
What is a good setup for a newbie wanting to try roe?

Also, can you use a float system of some sort?

Welcome to coho fishing on the Snohomish!
It can be frustrating but also quite rewarding as well.
Floats is not my favorite technique as coho are active and need a moving presentation to provoke strikes.
That said, if you get bit float fishing for silvers, let us know!
