Cannon coated cable stripping?

I need to replace my cables.

From what i've read on other forums I would need to strip a few feet of the coating to get the PIC & auto-stop to work.

I've tried using a utility knife to strip coating. Nothing seams to come off.

Whats the easiest to do this?

Are you running the Cannon "Camo" cable or the black vinyl coated?
The only reason to run that larger diameter vinyl coated would be to get data from a Speed & Temp 'ducer which is primarily a Great Lakes application to keep you close to the thermocline.

If you are using the vinyl coated cable, I would encourage you to revert back to Cannon's camo cable and Terminators rather than crimps as that pair of products are the very best available

Now I'm making scene on what they are possibly talking about. I didnt know about VC cable.

I'm using cannon camo pt# 2215397 and the the terminators.

So there is no need to sand the camo off the first 10ish feet off the cable to make connection with the screw in the spool.

That's right Bob,
There is no reason to strip anything off the camo cable as it is good to go out of the box!
