Costa Rica Fishing

Postby mitch184 » Tue Dec 02, 2014 11:27 am

So Cyber Monday got the best of me and I bought tickets to Costa Rica for the first 2 weeks of March. I have no lodging/housing yet and just want to fish. I'm thinking Central to Southern coast on the Pacific side would be best and possibly driving to the Carribean side for a day??

Any recommendations for charters, beach fishing locations and beach fishing gear setups?

Thanks

Pretty hard to beat Los Suenos Resort and the charter boat Sunny One!
Good luck!

I'd either fish out of Jaco or Quepos. For beach fishing bring a surf rod and some jumbo Krocodile spoons, some medium size poppers, and a couple of Sebile Magic Swimmers. Reel as fast as you possible can with the first two. Swim the Magic Swimmers fairly fast and the jacks will pound them. If you see something chasing your popper or spoon reel faster...don't stop!

Thanks for tips fellas. Getting pretty excited.

Robbo,

What size surf rod we talkin here? We're gonna do a few days of charter fishing, but we're probably staying in a house on the beach in Quepos. Surf fishing will hopefully be a daily adventure.
