area 9 or 10 ???

Postby Shaft » Mon Nov 18, 2013 9:29 pm

Hey guys im new to the site, but have many yrs of fishing experiance. From my brother charter out of newport, OR to Tennessee bass fishing. Im now located in Spanaway and have my 20ft alumaweld blackhawk. I have fished the heck out of marina area 11 this last winter, but i have been told its better in 9 or 10. Just curious if there is anything to be aware of in the area ( hidden rocks, crappy boat ramps, etc). I can read charts and have GPS, just want to go get some blackmouth. Thanks guys!

Whassup Shaft!
Welcome aboard! wave

While there is good blackmouth fishing in Area 11, I seem to find better and more consistent amounts of bait in Marine Areas 9 & 10.

Generally, A 9 & 10 are very well charted, sandy and fairly forgiving whereas A7 the San Juan Islands will definitely grab your downrigger balls!

Remember, when you're looking for our resident feeder chinook or "blackmouth" find the baitfish and you'll often find the chinook!

Check out Tyee Shoal, Yeomalt Point & Point Jefferson ("Jeff Head") in Marine Area 10 and you simply owe it to yourself to try Possession Bar in Area 9.

Go get 'em and please post a fishing report when you're successful! thumbup

Hey Nelly.

I have heard things about fishing Shilshole Bay but where in or around the bay do people seem to have luck? I'm pretty darn new to fishing MA 9 and 10 so I'm also in the market for info. :)

A lot of guys hug the 100 foot line from the Mo (A) "Mo Alpha" Ship Canal center channel marker to West Point on the flood.
You can also drag the Mo (A) to Meadows Point line on the ebb tide.

Some guys I know never start their main engines! They just troll right out from the Shilshole Marina breakwater and start fishing! spy
