My new Toy

Postby AnglerAl » Fri Sep 28, 2012 10:08 am

I had e-mailed one of the best Charter Captains in SE AK (Robbo) to congradulate him on another fine season and was telling him about my "new toy", that got it's maiden voyage up in Gustavus.
He suggested I post on here to show it to anyone interested.
I am here to report that this rig will handle butts to roughly 120 lbs with ease and won't tire you out jigging all day.

It is a Sea Magic 400 gram jigging rod made here in Texas with a Penn Fathom 25N (rated 30# drag) loaded with 290 yds of 80# Moimoi blue braid. The rod weighs 10 ounces and is rated for 80 - 200 lb braid. The reel weighs 20 ounces. Less than 3 lbs fully loaded.

Hopefully I will get to let Robbo check it out first hand sometime in 2013.

It fit fine in the standard "rocket launchers" on both boats that I fished on. There is a nice aluminum gimbal under the rubber but cap that helps with with a belt and bigger fish.

Hey Al!

Definitely a bad ass custom jigging stick you have there thumbup You could whip just about anything in Alaska with thing plus it'd make a good alby/yellowtail/amberjack/snapper rod too thumbup

Does Sea Magic have a website?

Hope to see you and Julie in SE AK this summer. The Calendar is already filling up quick ;)
