I think that Tommy Chong summed this study up thirty or so years ago " Save the wales.... Shoot the seals."

No doubt.
In some circles of government, there is an anti-fishing agenda.
I'm glad this research came out ahead of the new chinook harvest plan.
Now NOAA has little to no justification to curtail recreational chinook fisheries for orca recovery.

Nelly -
I agree - some good stuff regarding the intereactions between orcas and their forage.

However when it comes to the next co-manager's Puget Sound Chinook Harvest Plan I less concern orcas and much more concern about the recent declines in key wild Chinook stock abundances. The decline escapements of those north Puget Sound stocks over the last 5 years is pretty alarming. Suspect there will be some real pressure to lower some of the allowable impacts which will likely spell bad new for some mixed stock fisheries and some hard choices in the near future.
