Reel painting

Postby greenfishnut » Thu Jun 26, 2014 7:45 am

Not sure where to post this but:

What type of paint should one use on a level wind reel. It is a Ted Williams model built by similar to Millionaire.

Is in excellent condition infernally and except for the rash it seems to be almost like new:

The reel is black except where now silver from boat rash- reel was bought in a lot of several-

I never have had a reel with that much boat rash and none of mine get boat rash guess I am really lucky or careful (i would like to believe it is the latter but most likely the first)

any suggestion or recommendations ?

The Ted Williams product line was a Sears product made by Daiwa which is why it has a strong Millionaire resemblance.
First I would contact the manufacturer (Daiwa.com) Then,...
I would consider retiring the reel. Heck, even Ted Williams himself retired! rofl

I think this reel is designated for kokanee locally for one. If it has been used for fishing I would be highly surprised-going to be used by a retiree so he wont buy another new one. Has riding rash and I am sure it is not from a boat most likely a car trunk or pickup bed- opened itup and was highly surprised at how little wear and dirt old grease inside- had been done somewhere before i got it plus a south bend that looks brand new for about the cost of 1.5 gallons of gasoline +/-.
