Leaving Crab pots overnight legal?

Postby Fishee » Tue Jun 17, 2014 11:20 am

I've checked regs and maybe i must overlook or no such rules exist. If i were to drop my pot early in the morning, comeback in 4 hours or so, take my limits of Crab for the day.

Immediately drop my pots back in the water and comeback next morning, and take my limits of Crab for that day? Is that legal to do so?

Any feedback/educate me be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Yes, leaving your crab pots overnight is legal.
You may not pull them (referred to as "fishing the pots") in the hours of darkness.

Fishee -
Remember in many areas there are days each week that crabbing is closed and during those periods your can not have your pots fishing - in the water. Leaving your pots in the water that last day of the weekly season to pulled the next morning will land you in trouble.
