Insulated Box for Bradley Smoker

couldn't figure out how to post multiple photos on the FB page, so doing it here instead. Inspired by Duane's blog awhile ago, I built one for my Bradley a month ago. Finally got around to taking pictures (man, new babies are a time-suck). Made some minor design modifications, but pretty much followed his directions to the letter. Biggest difference was I did the top in two pieces cause 1) the Bradley is wider than a Little Chief so I was just a hair short of having enough leftover from the two sheets to make a one piece top, & 2) I can reload the hopper without having to take the entire top off and hopefully keep some more heat in. Really #1 was the only reason, cause I'm too cheap to buy a third sheet just to make a one piece top, but #2 makes me feel better about it.

Thanks for the blog Duane. This'll make the smoker much more usable through the winter.

Nice Boxes I may have to build some of those.. Do you notice less humidity in the winter with those?

I use my Bradley(s) allot during the winter too..
I do allot of wild game sausages and such as well. Two major things that have really improved the quality of smokes with both my units are

1. A PID controller. I got the dual probes from Auber Instruments
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8&products_id=151 .

this gives you the control to set your smoker on autopilot. It will keep the unit within a degree or two of your chosen temp without having major temp swings. works 10 x better than the digital controllers on the Bradley..

2. Adding a second element. This really changes the performance of the smoker really well.
(yes that is a little fan in there as well. helps distribute the heat better when doing sausage and more hot smoking)

Thanks! Used the pictures to design a box for my new Bradley digital smoker. Sub-zero temps before factoring in windchill but the smoker is holding temps just fine. Couldn't wait for warmer weather to use the smoker to make some goose jerky.
