Kings on the Bottom-Sonar Image

Sonar pic of some kings on the deck this afternoon. If you look closely you can see a kidney sinker dropping right into this mess of kings. Fish on!

Looks like the water temp came up since the first of the month!

It came up a couple degrees overnight and a bunch of cohos came in with it

Good to see you at the Harbor Marine Seminar Saturday Pat!

You can indeed see chinook -and baitfish- on Lowrance Structure Scan but they show as vertical "streaks" in the side scan image, as opposed to the horizontal "arches" we observe on traditional downward looking sonar.
I will try to get a few shots of Structure "Scanned" chinook this summer as it's tremendously instructive to see those images.

Remember, no matter what electronics you have, familiarizing yourself with the units operational characteristics and learning to interpret the displayed image is what it's all about.
If you're not completely confortable with your unit, you can end up wasting valuable time on the water figuring things out that you could have learned in the driveway with the unit's manual in hand.

It's a better use of your time to concentrate on the unit when you don't have the distractions of navigation and fishing competing for your on-the-water attention.
