Bobber Stops

I am taking the plunge and getting set up for float fishing. I have been using the rubber bobbers stops made by Eagle Claw but they seem to be sliding around. The nice guys at Sportco set me up with a floating 30# braid. What am I doing wrong? should I try two at once or...

The rubber ones work better on mono Big Dave. It sounds like you're using Hydrofloat line from PLine. I use the knot-type bobber stops with that line and try not to crank them down too tight when you put them on or the coating will strip off the line. Experiment a little and you'll find the right amount of tension. Floatfishing with jigs was veddy, veddy good to Stam and I yesterday

I'm in the thread bobber stop camp, those little rubber stops are too hard for these old eyes to see anymore.

I second the knot type stop. Ones with the little tube that slides right outa the knot. I use Beau Mac's.

I will have to try the knot style. Does anyone tie there own? Any recommendation as to type of line or thread?

you can just use a short piece of embroidery thread and tie a uni knot .

I like to leave the tag ends long on the knot type instead of clipping them off. Makes it real easy to see if my stuffs getn down and if I'm getn the right drift. Can be a little tougher to get through the eyelets but worth it.

I've tried all float stops/material. 20lb. or 30lb. Dacron/fly line backing is the best preforming material I have used. Normally use 20lb. if stopper bead hole is small enough (glass seed bead), if not use 30lb.
