No downriggers

Starting to put a fishing outfit together. Got a boat, motor, and a couple of rods and rod holders. What I don't have (can't afford yet) are downriggers. I want to fish in area seven and heard that this is a "downrigger fishery." All I've got are some divers. Is it hopeless for me in the San Juan Islands?

Not hopeless at all T!
I wouldn't bother with the divers though.
Without question your strategy should be to forget about trolling and go vertical!
Mooching and jigging should be your program!
Find some fish with your sounder or by locating boats with nets flying and get jiggy with it!
