Transducer question

Postby Greybrd » Mon Sep 26, 2011 1:38 pm

I am thinking about getting the HDS-8 but am confused about which transducer to use, should I get the 50/200 or the 83/200 unit? I will be fishing in Puget Sound and am confused as to which 'ducer would work the best. Lowrance website indicates a 50K for deep saltwater, some of the posts on this forum suggest that most people are using the 83/200K unit. Would appreciate any input, investing a chunk of cash and would like to get it right!!

Get the 50/200 Greybrd. I've used the Lowrance 50/200 and the Airmar 50/200 on the charter boat for ten years and it's put a lot of fish in the boat. Check your PM's too :D

Robbo, thanks for the input!! I thought that going with the 50/200 would be OK but decided to get input from the expert. Thanks again.

I really hate to have to agree with Robbo... But, in this case I have no choice...

At any rate 'brd, think of that 50/200 kHz transducer as you would speakers of a high-end stereo system: the better the speakers, the sweeter the music!

You can have a great system, but with a poor or incorrectly installed transducer you will not get a very good picture.

Check out http://www.Airmartechnology.com for the full line of high end "speakers" for your "underwater stereo"! 8-)

Nelly, thanks for the info, I'm really looking forward to getting the HDS-8, should be installed by next week! I hate to admit to being ignorant but, I don't know what Robbo meant when he said to "check your PM's", coming from him it must be something really important that I should know about
