Hunting - Canoe

My buddy's been bugging me to buy a canoe for duck season (nothing stopping him from buying one), but it just seems like an accident waiting to happen.
Does anyone have experience shooting from a canoe? Do the pros outweigh the cons (falling in, $$$, etc...)?

That sounds like a tippy proposition to me as well but it all depends on where -and how- you're using the canoe.

In windy, tidal waters deeper that 4-6 feet?... no way.
In back waters or flooded timber? sure!

With a young, active dog and decoys? Not me!
To use as transportation and not as a blind? why not!

Early season/mild weather?... Sounds like fun!
Late season/freezing weather... Tip it over and you could be done...

Bottom line: Like any type of boating/hunting situation you have to play the conditions. If you have to seriously pause and ask the question:
"Is this a good and safe idea"... The answer is always "NO!"

Again, if you have to ask the question... there is no question.

Nelly is right on the money...
I used to do a lot of canoeing with my son's scout troop. If I was going to go to use a canoe for fishing and hunting, I would go with a Scanoe. It is a canoe that has a square transom for a small motor, and most run about 40" wide in the middle so they are much more stable.

I had a near death experience duck hunting out of a canoe and I'll never do it again. Long story that I can tell over a beer sometime.

Nelly brought up some good points. It'd be sweet to have under some conditions, but if it's not practical for a lot of other scenarios, it may not be worth the investment.
The Aqua Pods look amazing but are a little over twice what I'd be willing to spend, my lab would love it though!
