Another waterfowl season in the book. An intereting year with the usual assortment of hits and misses. Many enjoyable hours in the marsh with lots interesting sights and sounds and even a bird or two for the table.
As always the high light of the year was spending quality time in the blind with my eldest son. While his work and our collective family obligations limited our time together still managed got out together a dozen times. While we were not able to make a couple of the trips we had hoped to still manage to kill 14 different species of waterfowl including my first brant limit! Had several great snow goose hunts with limits of in our face birds (decoying birds between 20 and 30 yards out with feet down and wings cupped). We began and thanks to a buddy ended the season with limits of puddlers -thanks Randy!.
With the last of the season's birds dressed, guns cleaned and locked away for another year, and decoys and other gear still waiting to be cleaned we are all ready discussing and planning next's season and potential hunts.
Hope everyone had as much fun this season as we did! Fortuantely there is a variety of fishing to be done and fish to be caught between now and mid October.
