FRESHWATER
The Skagit River silver season hasn’t turned out as good as forecasted so far. Cal Stocking of Cause For Divorce Guide Service fished Monday morning and managed to land a couple of nice bright silvers in the upper river. He noted that fishing was a little slow. Kevin from Holiday Sports fished yesterday afternoon up off South Skagit Hwy from the beach and managed to catch a couple of silvers but both were starting to color up so he released them. People are still seeing bright fish coming up the lower river though so we shouldn’t give up yet!

General lowland lake season ended on October 31 so if you are lake fishing, make sure it is a year-round lake. There are still a few opportunities to catch some trout and panfish as they try to feed to make it through the winter.

SALTWATER
Marine Area 7 is now closed for salmon but will reopen on December 1. Blackmouth fishing was actually pretty decent in late October. Kevin and I went out to try to fill our extra deer tags last week and ran into a friend at Eagle Bluff after we had shot a deer and started trolling. We had marked a few fish and he said he had had two takedowns and held up a nice 12 pound blackmouth. He later caught a 21 pound blackmouth after we left. A few other decent reports came in at the end of the season. Hopefully the December 1 opener will be a good one!

Marine Areas 8-1 and 8-2 just opened yesterday for the period of Nov 1 – April 30 for two hatchery blackmouth per day but we have yet to get any reports. If Marine Area 7’s good late October fishing is any indication, Camano and Whidbey should be good right now. Marine Area 9 is open for the month of November for 2 hatchery fish per day as well.
