UPCOMING SEMINAR

STILL OPEN SPACES! Cal Stockin of Cause For Divorce Guide Service will be giving a presentation on Saturday July 16 starting at 10:00AM here at Holiday Sports. He will speak on the upcoming Baker Lake sockeye season as well as the upcoming salmon seasons in the Skagit. This will be our second year of fishing in Baker Lake for sockeye so not much info is out there on this fishery. He did very well last year with limits on most trips so come by and learn from one of the best. Call to reserve your spot! (360-757-4361)

FRESHWATER
The upper Skagit hatchery chinook season is still open through the fifteenth. Cal Socking of Cause For Divorce Guide Service has been up there and they have been doing moderately well on hatchery chinook. He said that he had two hookups on his last trip.

One of the tackleshop employees fished Lake Cavanaugh last week and did well on smaller kokanee. This fishery should hold up longer than the lower lakes due to the higher altitude and cooler temperatures.

SALTWATER
The Bellingham PSA Derby had a record number of fish weighed in last weekend. Fishing has been hot in the San Juans. Go to their website to see the results at: http://www.bellinghampsa.com/derby.htm Good spots have included almost all of the popular areas including Thatcher, Obstruction, Tide Pt, Eagle Bluff, Pt Lawrence, Parker Reef, Presidents Channel and the west side of San Juan. The sooner you get out on the water, the better because the early July fishing is usually better than the end of July. Humpies should start trickling in soon though, a few have already been reported off the coast.

A couple of customers headed up to Nootka last week. They said that fishing was on fire up there. They came back with posession limits after two days of fishing on both Chinook and Coho.

Get ready for the July 15 crab opening in Marine Area 7 South. This includes Samish and Padilla Bays.
