Craig, AK

King salmon fishing has been outstanding here in Craig. I've got the fellars from Lowrance on the boat right now and they've been having a ball with some nice kings. Mostly catch and release, but we have bonked a couple for them to take home. Here's Mike Schnettler from Minnesota with 33 and 32 pound Chinook. Kings are spread out at quite a few places right now which has been nice. I ran into Haus_BH at the fuel dock this afternoon and he had a nice day out there also. Pretty darn fun right now!

ooooh, the fatties are getting fatter! It's fun watching my dads enthusiasm build for our trip up in July, the countdown has begun!

Thanks for the updates.

Awesome pics Robbo.

So when does the seiner's season start up?...and does that impact you as much as I think it does? I spent a summer in Craig on the F/V Melanie Ann as a deckhand back in my college years (1989) and back then there wasn't much, if any, guide fishing out of Craig.

BigBankWA-It does and it doesn't impact us. It seems there's usually enough fish around by then to keep everyone going. Sure, if you're at Seine Rock or the Cape and a seiner pulls in it's going to be over in a hurry. Not the end of the world...I just move and keep on keeping on 8-)
