finally baptized the new boat in some ling blood. took a friend out Friday in the San Juans and the water was like a big lake. big change from the day before when we got the tar beat out of us fishing halibut on the banks. anyway, after trying a couple areas closer to Deception Pass and finding only sub-slot sized lings, we moved further into the islands and both hit keeper lings about 15 minutes apart. my partner was first with a beautiful 33"er. then mine absolutely annihilated the perfect bait sized kelp greenling we'd just caught 5 minutes before that we rigged up on a live bait rig and sent him back down to meet Mr. Toothy. mine went 32" and had that blue tinge to him. my first keeper ling too. can't wait for the fish n chips.
