Lakes are warming up! Bass Season is here!

I don't suppose anyone around here is tired of seeing how many different ways we can rig a flasher and a spoon or how to run a downrigger or how to cut a herring, etc., etc., etc. ...

Well, it's spring and freshwater fisheries are picking up! The bass are biting, as well as all other fish in the lakes, and the weather is getting nice!

Be sure to check the regs if your local pond is open (some are not until the trout opener at the end of the month) but there are plenty of lakes that are open that are fishing very good!!! Water temps are starting to get above 50 degrees during the day and that makes for some wonderful pre-spawn feeding for both largemouth and smallmouth!

Tons of opportunities are out there for great fishing other than salmon in the saltwater...

A nice smallmouth. Football Jigs with various grubs can be fished shallow or deep and work great for big prespawn females like this one. She ate a Fisher Brothers Bait Company 6" XL Heart Throb!

This unsuspected trout ate a drop shot minnow (Fisher Brothers Bait Company DS Minnow) in about 20'! Both bass and trout alike like to eat minnow style baits this time of year.

ABA Day 1 on Lake WA. Chris Ferry and I placed 3rd with 16.25lbs and got 2nd biggest fish with a 4.37lb smallmouth. We caught fish in depths from 5-30' and kept changing things up to get the bigger bites.

ABA Day 2 on Lake WA. Chris and I placed 1st with 17.97lbs and 1st big fish of 5.06. Fishing was a bit tougher and had to really keep grinding to find the biters.
