My buddy and I needed a little change of scenery, so on Monday we headed to Rufus Woods Lake in North Central Washington. It's a long drive from Seattle, but the weather appeared to be in our favor (as far as Pacific NW weather goes). We packed up my car and our two kayaks and headed across the pass. This time of year, you'll have the water to yourself just above the Chief Joseph Dam. There were a couple of bank anglers and we saw one boat.
We marked several fish in 30 to 50 ft of water at all depths. Getting them to bite in the 39 degree water was a different thing. The gear of choice was a smaller trout flasher, a hoochie and spinner combo, tipped with a dab of Powerbait. We lost a couple but landed a couple bruisers that were 23 and 25" footballs. Here's a quick video we put together. Enjoy but be safe out there! https://vimeo.com/83861467
