Salt Patrol fished Westport for salmon this past weekend. Lots of fish around with some nice kings up to 30 pounds being caught by anglers.
Michael of Team Salt Patrol with a dandy Westport chinook!
There was also some good fishing up on the beach off Ocean Shores early in the morning in 60ft. water. The other good fishing came out in the 300-330ft of water west of the harbor. We had are best success or kings on a Silver Horde purple Gold Star Squid behind flashers with 42 inches leader or a King Fisher Lite spoon in White Lighting color.
John Keizer found most of their kings at 150-180 ft on the downriggers.
There was also lots of coho around and we caught most of them on a diver with a Yakima Bait Fish Flash and River Bend Jigs pre-brined whole herring died green or red. The diver was fished just under the prop wash on the 15HP HO Evinrude kicker engine.
The fish were moving around a lot and you needed to find pockets of baits to stay on fish. We made good use of our Lowrance Structure Scan with side scan out to 400ft to find these bait pockets.
