Springers still coming!

The Willamette River in Portland has really improved in the last week for Spring Chinook!!!

With the Columbia downstream of Bonneville Dam now closed, most pressure has turned to the Willamette. Fish are being caught from Oregon City near Willamette falls all the way down to the mouth and on the Multnomah Channel to St. Helens.

Most fish are caught on trolled herring or anchored with bait wrapped Kwikfish. A quick look at a map will show you good access points at Ridgefield, WA.(for access to the lower end of the Multnomah Channel) and Cathedral park in the St Johns neighborhood in Portland.

The fishing near Cathedral is very simple. Troll the west bank from the St. Johns Bridge downstream to the head of the Channel with a cut plug herring, 8oz. lead and 16 to 21 ft of line out.

If I can give you one tip "Let Them Eat It". Willamette River Springer bites can take for ever.
