Just because it is the middle of winter doesn't mean there is not some great fishing to be had! Over the last couple weeks there has been some amazing fishing for winter chinook salmon up to 20 pounds near southern Gulf Islands. Only a one hour run from our docks on Granville Island, the Galiano Island shoreline has been producing some really good numbers of feeder chinook. We have been averaging 5 to 15 hook ups a day over that way. The fish have been a mixture of legal an undersize chinook These chinook are the best eating of the year and full of fight. Vancouver Harbour and Howe Sound have been slower with the odd nice chinook being hooked up. February and March tend to be the best months for winter chinook in Vancouver Harbour and Howe Sound so we are looking forward to some good fishing close to home. One of our favourite spots in the winter is West Vancouver, only a 10 minute run from the dock. Crabbing and prawning have been very good in English Bay and up in Howe Sound.
